Members of the radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram has reportedly carried out an attack on Chadian soil.
This was made known by security sources who told BBC Africa that the attacks took place in the wee hour of the night.
It was reported also that this is the first attack the sect is executing in Chad since it started its uprising against the Nigerian government in 2009.
According to security officials, the extremist were believed to have crossed Lake Chad by motorboat and attacked a village on the shores of the lake.
Recall that Chad recently joined Nigeria, Niger, and Cameroon in a military coalition called multinational taskforce against the Boko Haram Islamist sect.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that the terrorists were repelled and pushed back by Chadian military troops after killing several people.
Meanwhile, the Chadian army yesterday said it killed 13 fighters from the Islamist militant group Boko Haram in the Nigerian town of Gambaru, Bornu State, while also saying two female suicide bombers attacked the Niger frontier town of Diffa on Wednesday.
